This week, I read:

Still Lolo by Lauren Scruggs

In December 2011, Lauren (“LoLo”) Scruggs, a 23-year-old fashion journalist, suffered a sudden injury that made headlines around the world. She had been on a short flight to look at Christmas lights and, upon exiting the small plane, was hit by the still-moving propeller blade. A frantic 911 call, several major surgeries, and thousands of prayers later: Lauren lived. But she lost her left hand and left eye. And she had to face some incredibly difficult questions: What kind of future will I have? Where is God in all this pain? Will anyone ever be able to love me now? In Still LoLo, Lauren speaks out for the first time since her accident. She and her family reveal what really happened that night, what Lauren’s life is like today, what got them through their journey toward healing, and how they conquered all odds to persevere as a family. It’s a compelling and fiercely beautiful story of faith, determination, and staying true to who you are—no matter what.

A quick read although I was a bit disappointed that it only talked about the accident and her recovery mostly towards the end. Honestly, I wasn't that interested in her parents relationship/marriage and her twin sister's short chapters didn't really do much for me either. Also, it was a bit strange that Lauren told us about all her boyfriends, I didn't really see the point. I do love though that this family stuck together through the hard times and clung to their Faith;it is an inspiring story! I give it B.

A Walk in the Park by Jill Mansell

It's been a while, but Lara Carson's back in Bath and lives are set to change as a result. Because Lara left her family and boyfriend Flynn eighteen years ago without a word to anyone. Why has no one heard from her since?
Her childhood best friend Evie is thrilled Lara's back and able to share her happiness. Evie's about to walk down the aisle with her dream man, Joel. Or so she thinks...
Then there's Flynn Erskine, even more attractive now and stunned to see Lara again. The spark between them is as strong as ever, but how's Flynn going to react when he discovers the secret she's been keeping from him?
Oh yes, there's a lot of catching up to be done...

I haven't read a Jill Mansell book in awhile but this is her most recent one and I loved it. Fun,enjoyable, picturesque, funny, and romantic. An intriguing story and classy characters, I still can't imagine having a child and NOT telling the father for 18 years! I dived right into this book and couldn't put it down. I give it an A.

Happy Reading!

  1. I know so many bloggers seem to love Jill Mansel, but I've still never read anything by her. I get the feeling I'd really enjoy her books, so hopefully I'm able to read something by her soon.
