book club

Happy Friday!

This week I read:

Diane Chamberlain's Lovers and Strangers
Lovers and Strangers
With their perfect marriage being torn asunder by their mutual grief, blame, and guilt over the death of their little girl, Shawn and David Ryder journey to the jungles of Peru, where they are forced to confront their intense feelings for each other.
(thanks to amazon)

I was disappointed by this book because I figured it would be a lot more time in the jungle while the couple works out their issues while it was not. It was more about each character giving up and then realizing what they had.  I also felt like this book dragged on for too long and went off on some weird character tangents. I give it a D.

Dee Henderson's The Witness
The Witness
Police Chief Luke Granger's witness to a murder, Amy Griffin, has been on the run for years. Her family thinks she was murdered eight years ago, but Amy chose to accept a life in the shadows in order to protect her sisters' lives. Now unveiled secrets about their father have thrust the sisters into the public spotlight. The man who wants Amy dead now sees her sisters as the way to locate her. Luke and two of his homicide detectives are determined to stand in the way. They are each falling in love with a different sister, and it's become a personal mission to keep them safe. But chances are that at least one of them will fail, and facing the future will take a faith deeper than any of them currently knows.

A good, twisting, suspenseful mystery. I liked the characters and setting, really easy to imagine being a part of the town. I did not see the big reveal at the end coming! I give this an A.
