happy thoughts

The new school year is just fast approaching and I am noticing that once again I am sometimes in a sad funk. I wish more than anything that this would have been the school year when I had my first teaching job, but alas it is not, for the third year in a row.

So, instead of thinking about what I still don't have in life, I am going to think about what made me happy, just today alone.
  • having my Dad bring me an iced coffee for breakfast
  • baking and decorating cookies while babysitting (the smell of them in the oven is heavenly!)
  • seeing the little guy in his beloved elmo shirt with a big smile on his face as he spots me and waves and says "vicccc" or it might have been "icccc" but it all counts in my book because I know he means me :)
  • carrying A to the car because she just wants me to
  • kissing the little man good-bye as he puckers up
  • chasing A and little B at the playground
  • watching R in her element with her friends
  • listening to some much needed up-beat and optimistic music on the drive home
  • chasing the sunset and taking its picture
  • watching the summer finales of white collar and covert affairs with my mom and dad on a cool Summer's night
What made you happy today?

  2. I'm glad youre staying so positive! My brother was having a hard time finding a teaching job as well and he finally just got a one year sub position for a high school.

I'm sending positive thoughts your way, hope you find something soon!
