Why I love baseball

Kasey At The Bat

I know I am a week behind on this link-up,BUT, that is okay. I still wanted to participate because baseball was my first sport love. No wait, that was basketball in the 90s when the Bulls were actually great....but anyways! Back to my love for my Cubs!!

I have been a Cubs fan since birth, a necessity and no-brainer as I grew up just north of Chicago. I started going to Wrigley (Wrigley,I love that park and its history! Just thinking about it makes me smile with great memories) with my friends in Middle School and High School. We would follow the Cubs religiously and make signs and go early for batting practice and with hopes of retrieving an autograph or a ball. I did indeed receive a ball with four autographs on it,one of which is Ryan Dempster's (before he was even one of our lead pitchers). Fun times my Besties and I had!

One other memory I have is in 2003 when the Cubs clinched their Division, I was at the double-header game! I can still see all the players on the field and spraying the fans in the bleachers with champagne!

I will admit though that the last few Seasons I have not been as enamored with my Cubbies but I am still a fan,and baseball is still one of my favorites.

I will always remember the fun I had with my family and friends at Wrigley and I hope to introduce my own kiddos to the heart of Chicago one day!

These are all pictures I have taken (or someone else took them if I am in them...) over the past years.

another season!

Hooray for October,it means Fall...and Hockey season!!

I am so excited for another amazing season (last year we were robbed I tell ya!) and to see all the guys back out on the ice. I have been a hockey/Blackhawks fan since late 2009 when I went to my first ever game at the United Center with my Besties;we can't get enough of the sport!

I love hockey and I think it is the toughest sport,so fast paced and high energy. Being born-and-bred in Chicago and being a Blackhawks fan is just icing on the cake :)

2009 (the only photo I have is framed on my desk)
2010 and they won the Stanley Cup!!
2011
2012 ( I don't think I went to a game at the UC this year...)
2013-Stanley cup Playoff game!!

I watched them win the Cup again with some of the Besties.

I went to the Stanley Cup Parade, awesome and memorable time!

Go Blackhawks!

le tour 2014

I am sure I say this every year, but, this year's Tour was crazy!! Top competitors crashed/injured out, insane speeds, intense Mountains, a slew of rain and rain and rain and it all started in England!

The top three: Peraud, Nibali (the overall winner!) and Pinot

I was so thrilled for Tejay Van Garderen's 5th place spot!! He and his team, BMC,put up one heck of a fight.

Here is to next year's Tour!

Now I am looking forward to the USA Pro Tour that takes place in Colorado/Rocky Mts in mid August!

It is finally here, the new season of hockey!! I am so pumped for tonight's opener!! Sure, last season just ended a couple months ago and the Hawks won the Cup,again, but I just love hockey in general so I am so excited to get thrown into the excitement once again :)

100th Tour

I thought that this year's Tour de France was one of the better ones I have seen over the years;new locations for the stages, crazy mountain stages, the team time trial added back in, insane riding by intensely gifted riders, surprise stage winners, surprise tough Tour for some of the usual contenders, awesome attacks by the great climbers and old pros of the Tour, tons of new faces!

First, Second and Third place. Chris was amazing and he sure fought and earned first place,he was always right in the front :) Oliver Rodriguez and Nairo Quintana placed second and third just the day before,it was a tight call but that last day in the Alps was the decision maker.

This young guy is something else! Nairo Quintana, only 23,his first Tour and he not only finished the race (I mean, come on,that would be my goal if I ever rode the Tour,to just finish the race lol) he came in second place AND won the mountain jersey AND best young rider jersey.

Thanks,LeTour,for the photos!

Wrigley North

Four of my Besties and I drove up to Milwaukee on Saturday morning to cheer on our Cubbies. Well, the Cubbies lost but we still had fun! And we even stopped at the Outlet mall on the way home;we had to drown our sorrows somehow, right? :)

Why I love hockey

I love hockey! There I said it...and I am  proud to admit it. Go Blackhawks!!

Patrick Sharp in action :)

I grew up (and I still am) a die-hard baseball fan but in the past couple of years I have grown to enjoy and be thrilled with hockey. I am just amazed at the skill of these men because I have never even ice skated, let alone skating so fast and precisely while chasing after a puck and being slammed into a glass wall :)

Our very first hockey game in 2009

Last year (2010)..bestie K couldn't make it though  :(

Reasons why I love watching hockey:

  1. The guys are incredibly talented
  2. They can multi-task oh so well
  3. Sometimes a fight breaks out
  4. The puck flies around so fast that most of the time I can't find it, so how do they?!
  5. Patrick Sharp is one fine-looking man
  6. You are put in a time out  penalty for bad things (high sticking, icing, tripping, etc)
  7. I get so anxious when the puck is near the goal and I normally yell/squeak out loud (yes, I said squeak-haha)
  8. Patrick Sharp is sexy
  9. It is a relatively quick sport-about an hour and a half long (3 periods of 20 mins)
  10. Guys literally loose teeth if the puck flies at their face (I can't even imagine that pain!)
  11. It is just such a guys' sport!
  12. I get to hang out with my girlfriends and cheer on our Blackhawks!
  13. Patrick Sharp is fun to watch/look at/stare at
  14. They reward hard work
  15. Sometimes the game ends in a tie---so it isn't always about winning or losing
  16. You can slam other players into the rink and that is perfectly acceptable
  17. There is a "neutral" zone...I just think it is a funny name
  18. Patrick Sharp......enough said
  19. When a guy's stick breaks their teammate gives them theirs to use
  20. There are only 5 players on the ice at once, the perfect number to keep track of (unless of course there is a "power play" or  "open net")
  21. It is funny and amazing to watch how quick the referees are at staying out of the players' way
  22. The passion for the game is intense
  23. A player can get a "hat trick" (scoring 3 goals in one game)
  24. Rivalries are a big deal
  25. Everyone gets a chance to play/taking turns is a must
  26. It truly is a team sport-"we" not "me"

The besties and I are gearing up for this year's game in December; we can't wait!
